The Best Places to Eat Tiramisu in London

Updated: Jun 8, 2021

Tiramisu is easily my favorite dessert. It is the ultimate comfort food. I love how the silky mascarpone cream is layered over espresso ladyfingers, and I love how tiramisus all over the world can be different, but fundamentally the same. And always delicious!

Here are a few of my favourite Central London places serving up top class tiramisu.

Harry's Bar

Situated just around the corner from Selfridges department store you will find Harry's Bar, a fifties inspired Italian restaurant from the same restaurant group that brings us The Ivy - enough said. At Harry's Bar, the tiramisu is a generous portion size, with a thick, dusty, chocoholic-approved layer of cocoa on top. Complete with a golden chocolate coffee bean it's probably the most glamorous tiramisu you will eat.

Trevi Tiramisu

Specialising in tiramisu and other Italian pastries, you will find Trevi Tiramisu along an unassuming street in South Kensington. They have a wide variety of flavours (classic, pistachio, strawberry, hazelnut, Amaretto...) and different portion sizes to suit. I have enjoyed the classic and Amaretto flavours, and a rather large portion that may have been meant for two... but I don't share, so I ate it all anyway.

Napoli Gang

Napoli Gang forms part of the Big Mamma Group (inc. Gloria Trattoria, Circolo Popolare) and is a takeaway only outlet serving parts of Central, East, North and South West London. Their pizzas are made in true Big Mamma style but always get dessert because whether tiramisu, chocolate mousse, or the Instafamous lemon pie, you won't regret it. The tiramisu is a large portion that seems never to end, very creamy and full of flavour.

Order on Uber Eats, and check www.napoligang.co.uk for delivery locations.

Gloria

And now to Gloria, sister restaurant to the above-mentioned Napoli Gang take away service. This tiramisu arrives in a large dish and your serving is scooped out while you watch. Aesthetically it looks a bit of a mess, but it tastes so good! The ladyfingers are thin and well soaked, reducing the distinction between the layers, which I find is a strength for the dessert as it means your spoon glides effortlessly through and every mouthful tastes deliciously the same. It is the ultimate creamy, indulgent bowl of tiramisu and my advice is order two!

Pompi

If you've been to Rome you might be familiar with Pompi (located near the Spanish Steps), but did you know there is a shop in Soho? Giuliano Pompi created a new tiramisu recipe in the 1980s and the end result is totally delectable. They serve a big portion, with lots of cocoa and even cacao nibs, so definitely a thumbs up.

Franco's

Franco's is an upscale Italian restaurant located on Jermyn Street. And at Franco's you can expect some cheeky chocolate extras. I'm talking a thick coating of cocoa, cacao nibs, chocolate soil and chocolate sauce decorated into hearts. The tiramisu is a medium-sized portion which makes it easier to enjoy all of the chocolate extras without being "too much" (supposing there is such a thing...). A delightful way to end a meal.

The Drunken Oyster

And finally... Walk through the doors of Hai Cenato and make you way upstairs to The Drunken Oyster bar. The bar offers an edited menu from the restaurant downstairs (pizza, risotto etc), but ask nicely you can also order a great tiramisu to go with those drinks. Cocktails and tiramisu - Friday night is on!

If you are also a tiramisu lover and know somewhere that does a great tiramisu, get in touch and let me know!
